Eagles vs Jaguars | Things To Watch For

Okay, so after two preseason games we still don’t know what to expect from this Eagles defense because the first game was bad, but the second game showed much improvement. We learned that the offense should be okay and our special teams looks good.

Consider this game against the Jags as a rubber match. We will see the starters, led by Vick, play the first half and maybe the 3rd quarter depending on how the coaches feel the team did.

-As mentioned before we need to see which defense shows up. The one we saw versus New England or the one that stepped up and played well against Carolina.

-More specifically, look for how the Safeties play. Patrick Chung had a good game coming up from the secondary against the run. Will it be Nate Allen starting across from Chung or will it be someone who steps up such as the rookie Earl Wolff? Can Kenny Phillips prove his health and make a difference at safety or even make the team.

-Who will step up to be the teams number two receiver with Maclin down and out for the season.

-How does Jason Peters look in making his first start after suffering two ruptured achilles injuries on the same foot.

-Look for Brandon Graham to show something. Even though we are weak at linebacker depth, he isn’t a lock yet to make the team.

-Don’t forget to watch and see if this young group up front on the d-line continues to improve with Cox, Curry, Logan, Square, and Geathers all progressing well.

Game starts at 7:30 tonight.
