With the Sixers expected to struggle this season, eventually, and be a top 5 pick matched with another lottery pick via the Pelicans, people are already getting hyped up over this years projected draft class. This class features tons of high-profile players that include Andrew Wiggins, Julius Randle, Jabari Parker, Marcus Smart, Dante Exum among other top prospects. You may not get a chance to watch these players until March Madness but tonight three of the best players in college basketball will take to the court as #1 Kentucky take on #2 Michigan State (7:30) and #4 Duke plays #5 Kansas (9:30).
1) Julius Randle, PF, Kentucky- Randle is one of the top 3 players in college right now as a freshman and is expected to be a one-and-done at Kentucky just like Wiggins. Randle is NBA ready from a physical standpoint standing at 6’9″ 250+lbs. Randle is also athletic for his size. He has a solid jump shot and tough down on the bock and in the post. Very strong player who fights through contact. He hustles and shows great energy off the ball. Fights hard for rebounds and is a great competitor.
2) Andrew Wiggins, SG/SF, Kansas- The ceiling is the sky with this kid. Wiggins is the most sought out player in this upcoming NBA draft as of today. Wiggins stands at 6’8″ 200 lbs. He will need to put on some weight when he gets to the NBA to handle the physicality of the pros. He needs to further develop his shoot. He has the ability to create his own shoot with his quickness and he is a great finisher at the rim. Although early, Wiggins in his first game looked disinterested off the ball on offense. If he wants to be a good player he will need to learn how to play better off ball and develop and attitude/agression/killer instinct.
3) Jabari Parker, SG/SF, Duke- Parker is a versatile player who has all the offensive scoring moves in the book. He has great touch on his shoot and has the size that the NBA is looking for at 6’8″ 230 lbs. Parker started all four years while at Simeon HS in Chicago and lead his team to four straight State Titles. Parker needs to work on his quickness. He is a mature player for his age and looks to be a leader.
